DASH performs over 10 surgeries daily – CMD

Lafia, Aug. 21, 2019 (NAN) The Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital (DASH), Lafia, Nasarawa State, says the facility is performing an average of 10 surgeries daily.
Dr Hassan Ikrama, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the hospital disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Lafia.
According to him, the specialist hospital has sufficient technical and other specialists to cater for the increasing number of patients patronising the facility daily.
He said that the hospital at the moment has the highest number of Consultants at the different speciality of medical profession.
“We have 37 permanent and other visiting consultants in different fields, over 100 Doctors apart from Nurses, Pharmacists and Laboratory Technicians, among others.
“There is no Specialist Hospital in the entire country at the moment that has the number of consultants we have.
“The government has also acquired brand new machines for the newly constructed neurology Block recently built by the state government.
“The government has also bought brand new city scan and digital Xray machines that patients were hitherto sent to Keffi or Jos because we do not have them.
“Already, the digital Xray machine is being used, but we are currently training personnel on how to operate the city scan machine,” the CMD added.
Ikrama also assured members of the public that the management of the hospital would do everything possible to ensure better service delivery. (NAN)

Jalingo, Dec. 22, 2017 (NAN) Dr Alex Maiangwa, the newly appointed Chief Medical Director (CMD), Taraba Specialist Hospital, Jalingo, on Friday promised improved service delivery.
Maiangwa made the promise in Jalingo while receiving a hand over note from his predecessor, Dr Joel Rimande.
He pledged to ensure that patients’ satisfaction would be central to his administration.
He said effective policies would be implemented to give patients full components of service in the hospital.
“The motto of this hospital is putting patients first; it did not say putting the management first.
“I intend to ensure that our patients get effective services right from the gate of this hospital to each and every department they will come across. My objective is to serve them well,” Maiangwa said.
However, the CMD noted that there were a lot of challenges in the hospital, but assured the staff that he would work tirelessly to improve their welfare.
Maiangwa, a Consultant Obstetric Gynaecologist, solicited for maximum cooperation from the workers to lead them effectively.
The CMD thanked Gov. Darius Ishaku for finding him worthy of the appointment, promising that he will not betray the trust reposed in him.
Earlier, Rimande described Maiangwa as a worthy successor endorsed by the hospital’s board.
“I am very happy for the appointment of my former deputy as the new CMD.
“I would have been sad if the appointment had gone to someone new to this hospital because I will have to start taking him round to put him through on so many things.
“Besides, Maiangwa has been a loyal colleague who worked assiduously with me for the development of this hospital.
“I urge you to support him because we share the same dream of making this hospital one of the best in the country,” said the outgone CMD. (NAN)

Kano, Sept. 6, 2017 (NAN) The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of National Orthopaedic Hospital, Dala, Kano State, and some consultants have taken over services at the hospital following the strike by resident doctors in the country.
Mr Tijjani Mohammed, the Director, Servicom and Information of the hospital, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano on Wednesday.
According to him, the CMD of the hospital, Dr Muhammad Salihu, and some consultants have been attending to patients since the strike commenced on Sept. 4.
He said the measure became necessary in order to attend to the patients that needed urgent medical attention due to their conditions.
“The CMD and our consultants are the ones attending to patients at the Surgical Out Patients Department (SOPD), and Accident and Emergency Units of the hospital.
“These are the two units which need the attention of the doctors that are currently on strike. So we can say that the services are not totally affected,’’ said the spokesman.
He said the consultants who normally see the patients at the hospital on weekly basis have now been directed by the management to provide full services in place of the striking doctors.
A NAN Correspondent who visited the two units observed that most of the patients had been attended to by the CMD and the consultants even though it took the patients longer time before being attended to.
One of the patients at the SOPD, Mrs Beryl Deyemi, told NAN that she spent about four hours before she could see the consultant.
Deyemi, however, expressed happiness that despite the strike, she was able to see the doctor and prescribed medicine for her.
“I came here around 8.15 a.m but couldn’t see the doctor until 1 p.m, but I am still happy since he had attended to me,’’ she said.
Another patient at the Accident and Emergency unit, Mr Manaja Mai-mai, said he spent one hour before he could be attended to by the CMD.
NAN reports that following the strike some patients are being referred to the National Orthopaedic Hospital from the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) in view of high number of patients that patronise AKTH. (NAN)
