AFCON: Lawan leads Presidential team to Egypt, expresses confidence in Super Eagles

Abuja,July 14, 2019 (NAN) President of the Senate, Dr Ahmad Lawan, has departed Abuja to lead a presidential delegation to cheer Super Eagles in today’s match against Algeria in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.

Mr Mohammed Isa, the Special Assistant to the President of the Senate on Media and Publicity, said in a statement on Sunday in Abuja that the delegation was made up of 11 men.

Isa said other members of the delegation include the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha.

Others include Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta and Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos States, Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Godwin Emefiele, and President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), Mr Habu Gumel.

Also in the delegation are a representative of the Presidency; Capt. Hosa Okunbo, and the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mr Olusade Adesola.

Others are Muhammad Gambo, the ministry’s Director of Facilities, and former Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr Solomon Dalung.

Isa also quoted the president of the senate before departing for Egypt as saying: “The Presence of the delegation will boost the morale of the Nigerian players and spur them to win the match.

“I am confident that our boys today will re-enact their winning streak in their determination to win the trophy and they need our support including our presence,” the statement quoted Lawan saying. (NAN)

APC State Chairmen pass vote of confidence on Oshiomole

Abuja, June 6, 2019 (NAN) The All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum of State Chairmen on Thursday in Abuja passed a vote of confidence on Mr Adams Oshiomole, the party’s National Chairman, saying he is the best man to lead the party.

Mr Ben Nwonye, the Secretary of the forum and Chairman, APC Enugu State Chapter, who spoke on behalf of the forum made this known while speaking with newsmen at the party’s national secretariat.

He fielded questions after the state chairmen had a closed door meeting with Oshiomole and members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).

He added that inspite of recent negative reports on Oshiomole, he remains the man with a strong will to lead the party at the moment.

“We met with the national chairman of our great party and members of the NWC and we touched on relevant issues on the party.

“We discussed in details on the party’s unity and at the end of the meeting, we were fully informed on the party’s issues and unity.

“Based on the information we have and the readiness of the party and the national chairman to lead the country and the party to the next level, we have unanimously passed a vote of confidence on Oshiomole and the NWC,” he said.

Nwonye described recent negative reports making the rounds on Oshiomole as spurious allegations meant to malign not just his person, but President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC as a party.

He added that Oshiomole remain a strong man and the party’s national chairman, saying that he has all it takes to lead the APC to the next level.

Nwonye said it was regrettable that those that were against Oshiomole started their campaign against him just as President Buhari was to be inaugurated for a second term in office.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that on May 28, Sen. Lawal Shuaibu, APC Deputy National Chairman, North, called on Oshiomhole to resign for allegedly failing to add any value to the APC since his election.

Shuaibu, in a six-page letter dated May 27 and addressed to Oshiomhole, accused the chairman of incompetence, high handedness and immaturity in his handling of the affairs of the party.

He noted that the APC had lost control of seven states under Oshiomhole.

“I am a critical stakeholder in the APC project and therefore, have a stake for which I reserve the right to write this letter to you,” Shuaibu had said.

Following the party’s challenges in Zamfara and some other states of the federation, resulting from its mode of primaries ahead of the 2019 general elections, Oshiomhole and Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, the APC immediate past national chairman had been engaged in blame trade.

This particularly followed the upturning of the party’s electoral victory in Zamfara by the Supreme Court, and the losses it suffered in some states it previously controlled.(NAN)

Abuja, May 8, 2019 (NAN) Some residents in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, have said that wearing of artificial butts and boobs enhances women confidence.
The respondents expressed their feelings in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja.
Ms Ngozi Okeke, a civil servant, said that some women wear these artificial items to enhance their beauty.
Okeke said it was a misconception that women wear the artificial body enhancers to attract the opposite sex.
She said that it was not inferiority complex that causes some women to wear body enhancers.
Another Abuja lady, who craved for anonymity, told NAN that she wears artificial butts to give her dressing fitting, saying “I wear body enhancers because it makes me feel beautiful’’.
She added that each time she wore her artificial enhancer she felt good with herself and could enter anywhere with confidence.
She said that it was a myth that women wore artificial enhancers for men folks.
She therefore encouraged other women who do not feel good with their body shape to adopt the use of body enhancers.
Also Madam Ugochi Okoro, a journalist, said she wore body enhancers because they make her beautiful and fitted in her clothes.
“In fact, they make me feel very good, cool and attractive. I can go anywhere now without feeling downcast,’’ Okoro said.
Mr Bamidele Charles, a real estate consultant, said that the female body enhancers look appealing to some men.
However, Charles noted that the artificial enhancers had destroyed several relationships and broken homes because of their deceptions.
He therefore advised ladies to maintain their natural beauties and keep their respect and relationships. (NAN)

APC stakeholders pass confidence vote on Sen. Adamu

Keffi (Nasarawa State), Feb. 26, 2018 (NAN) Federal and state lawmakers under the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Nasarawa State have passed a vote of confidence on the leadership qualities of Sen. Abdullahi Adamu (APC-Nasarawa West).
The legislators expressed their confidence on Adamu during a meeting with the state party officials and some critical stakeholders on Monday in Keffi, Nasarawa State.
Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, the Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, moved the motion for the vote of confidence which was seconded by Rep. Mohammed Ibrahim (APC-Nasarawa/Toto), at the meeting.
Abdullahi told newsmen at the end of the meeting that the confidence vote was passed on Adamu after assessing his positive contributions to development of humanity and at the Senate in the last six years.
“We the lawmakers, both at the federal and state levels, under APC from Nasarawa West including the state party executives led by the Chairman, Mr Philip Shekwo, and critical stakeholders are here to discuss on some vital national issues that affect our party and the present administration in general.
“We are loyal and in total support of what our distinguished Sen. Abduallhi Adamu is doing in defence of truth, in defence of our party and in defence of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, and we urged him to stand firm on that.
“We told him to continue to stand firm in defence of truth and we are solidly behind him and President Buhari beyond 2019,” he said.
The speaker called on the people to continue to pray and give their maximum support to Adamu and Buhari to enable them succeed in the tasks ahead of them.
He noted that Adamu, who was a two time governor of the state, had performed credibly well in office, hence the need for the people of the senatorial district to support his re-election come 2019.
The Nasarawa state number three citizen also called on APC faithful to remain united and work for the progress of the party at all levels beyond 2019.
Besides, Abdullahi called on Nigerians to continue to live in peace and tolerate one another irrespective of their ethnic, religious and political affiliation for the overall development of the country.

Responding, Adamu thanked the stakeholders and assured them of his continued stand in defence of truth, his party and the Buhari administration.
The senator also promised to pursue development issues that would better the lives of Nigerians. (NAN)
