PDP youth leader in Edo defects to APC

Benin, Feb. 8, 2019 (NAN) Mr Frank Izuaige, a former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) South-South Youth Leader in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Izuagie, on Friday in Benin led some of his members on a courtesy visit to Edo Government House, and assured that they would work to ensure victory of all APC candidates in the forthcoming general elections.

Izuagie and his supporters were received by Mr Mathias Momoh, the Edo North APC political leader.

He said that he was very happy to receive the defectors into the ruling APC, assuring that Izuagie and his supporters will be given the necessary positions that due them.

Momoh presented defectors to the state Deputy Governor, Mr Philip Shaibu.

Shaibu while speaking said that their coming into APC was a blessing to the party, noting that it is a plus to the APC.

“From today, all APC programmes taking place, you and your supporters shall be part of it, for the fact that you are just joining us today will not make any difference between us.

“We are family now, as soon as you join us, you will enjoy all the benefits, we look forward to seeing you help us win our opponents with a very good margin,” he said.

The deputy governor thanked the leaders of his party in Edo North for working hard to ensure that the APC and all its candidates emerged winners in the upcoming elections. (NAN)

Dutse, Oct. 31, 2018 (NAN) Mr Yakubu Ruba, a former Attorney General and Commission for Justice in Jigawa, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) with about 10,000 supporters.

Ruba announced his decision during a press conference in Dutse on Wednesday.

“You may recall that I have been a member of the PDP from its formation to date, and I remained in the party after we lost election in 2015.

‘’And I’ve committed my time and life to the progress of the party and protection of its members.

‘’I believe that posterity can affirm as to the extent of my commitment to the party and its members.

“However, due to personal reasons and the conduct of the other party members to my supporters within the party, I realised that my political dreams cannot be realised in the party (PDP).

“For this reasons, I have no option than to exit the PDP while the party is indebted to me, I therefore, formally offer my resignation from the Party.

“As I resigned my membership from the party, I wish to formally thank the party and its other members for availing me the platform upon which I served as the Attorney General of the state from 2011 to 2015.

“I hereby request all my supporters across the state to follow suit by exiting the PDP.

“Today, I and over 10,000 of my supporters have agreed and resolved to join the APC,’’ he said. (NAN)

(Audio) Oyo Speaker denies defecting from APC

Ibadan, Oct. 26, 2018 (NAN) Hon. Joshua Ojo, Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, on Friday denied that he had defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to another party.

Ojo, who made the denial while briefing journalists in Ibadan, said he remained loyal to APC at the both state and national levels.

“I can categorically tell you that no party in the Oyo State House of Assembly outnumbers APC.

“Even though we have other political parties such as ADC, ADP, and PDP, I can assure you that none of them has supersedes the APC in the House.

“It is a rumour. I am still in APC and I will remain in APC and I cannot defect from APC to any other political party.

“Although former governor Alao Akala remains my Oga, for now, our political affiliation is very different.

“Notwithstanding, I can tell you that I am still in APC and I will remain there.’’

The speaker called on the generality of the people of the state to cooperate with the present administration to consolidate on the gains so far recorded in the governance of the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Oyo State House of Assembly comprises 14 APC members, 13 ADC members, 3 ADP members, and 2 PDP members. (NAN)

Kokona (Nasarawa State), July 24, 2018 (NAN) The Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, says the exit of Mr John Mamman, a retired Permanent Secretary in the state, and thousands of his supporters marks the end of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kokona Local Government Area of the state.
Reacting to the defection of Mamman to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday at Kokona, Abdullahi made this known described the defector as a renowned politician and a longest serving “general of PDP” in the area.
The speaker said that Mamman’s joining of the APC was a great loss and set back to the PDP and a big fish to the ruling APC which would boost the chances of APC in winning all elective positions in the area and the state at large.
“With the defection of Mamman to APC, it marks the end of PDP not only in Kokona Local Government Area of the state but in the Nasarawa West senatorial district at large.
“We have been waiting for him to join our party, now that God has touched him to join us, PDP is finished,” he said.
According to him, in the forthcoming election, all the 10 members of the state House of Assembly from Nasarawa West, House of Representatives members and Senate will come from the APC by God’s grace.
Abdullahi called on the people of the area to work with Mamman in order to ensure the victory of the party come 2019 and beyond.
He added that President Muhammadu Buhari and Gov. Tanko Al-Makura led administrations had brought the needed and positive change to the people of the state and Nigeria at large.
The speaker therefore urged Nigerians to continue to support Buhari and Al-Makura to enable them succeed in delivering more dividends of democracy.
Besides, Abdullahi urged the people of the state to be law abiding, respect constituted authorities; live in peace and tolerate one another irrespective of their ethnic, religious and political affiliation.
He restated the commitment of the assembly to continue to enact laws and resolutions that have direct bearing on the lives of the people.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Mamman officially defected from PDP to APC in his Dari electoral ward on July 21.
He said at the occasion that he had remained a long standing “general’’ of the PDP in the state.
According to him, he joined PDP in May 1998 and never considered defecting to any political party since then.
Mamman, however, said the time had come for him to dump the PDP, adding that the APC under Buhari is a better option for him.
“I choose to join the APC due to the developmental strides of President Muhammadu Buhari and Gov. Tanko Al-Makura, which have direct impact on the lives of the people,’’ he said.
The retired permanent secretary also said joining the APC would provide him the chance to contribute his quota to the development of his community, the state particular and the country at large. (NAN)

Dari (Nasarawa State), July 22, 2018 (NAN) Sen.Abdullahi Adamu (APC-Nasarawa West) on Sunday received some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftains who defected to the APC in his constituency.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that those who dumped the PDP at Dari, Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, were led by a retired Permanent Secretary, Mr John Mamman.
Adamu urged Mamman and other party supporters to work tirelessly for the progress and victory of the party at all levels come 2019 and beyond.
He described APC as a progressive party, adding that the party has done credibly well towards impacting positively on the lives of Nigerians.
The senator assured the people of his continued commitment to push for good policies and programmes that have direct bearing on their lives and solicited for their support to enable him succeed.
Adamu drummed support for the re-election bid of President Muhammadu Buhari and the victory of the party at all levels in the 2019 general election and beyond.
Also speaking at the occasion, the state’s Deputy Governor, Mr Silas Agara, urged APC members in the area to work together with Mamman in order to ensure the victory of the party in all elections.
“Today, John Mamman is a member of APC and I urge him, his supporters and other party faithful to work for the victory of the party come 2019,” he said.
Agara also drummed support for the governments of Buhari and Gov. Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State to enable them succeed.

He urged Nigerians to be law abiding, respect constituted authorities, live in peace and tolerate one another irrespective of ethnic, religious and political affiliation.
The deputy governor renewed the state government commitment to continue to initiate projects that have direct bearing on the lives of the people.
Mamman thanked the senator and deputy governor as well as other well wishers for witnessing their defection.
He assured them of his commitment to work for the victory of the party in the area. (NAN)

Katsina APC Treasurer, 4,000 supporters defect to PDP

Kankia (Katsina State), April 1, 2017(NAN) Alhaji Nasiru Usman, Treasurer, Katsina State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), along with 4,000 others.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the defectors presented themselves to the Kankia Local Government chapter of their new political abode, on Saturday.

Speaking on behalf of other defectors, Usman said that they decided to jump ship because the APC neglected them.

“It is a fact that I led many others in the struggle that ensured victory for the APC in the 2015 general election.

“I campaigned vigorously against the then PDP candidate, Musa Nashuni, who is from my own local government – Kankia – and ensured he lost even his village, to Aminu Masari of APC.

“However, after the polls and the subsequent assumption of Masari as governor of Katsina State, majority of us were neglected by the APC.

“In my own case, some party stalwarts in Kankia went to the party’s state headquarters and ensured that I was suspended from its fold, for reasons best known to them.

“I have been on suspension for 14 months, with the state office refusing to recall me as directed by the Northwest Zonal Chapter of the party, following my successful petition against the illegal action,” he said.

He said that his defection to the PDP was not to contest for any position.

“We left the party because of neglect. The 4,000 people defecting with me are from the 10 political wards of Kankia,” he said.

Nashuni, Masari’s PDP rival in 2015, who also spoke, said that the PDP would not repeat the mistakes that led to the loss of the 2015 elections.

Nashuni urged PDP members to remain focused, steadfast and united so as to be able to wrestle power from its rivals in 2019.

Alhaji Salisu Majigiri, who received the defectors, promised a level playing ground for all PDP members.

“In PDP, we are one and the same and have equal opportunities at all time,” he said. (NAN)
