Council commends FOMWAN for promoting antenatal care

Shira (Bauchi State), March 7, 2017 (NAN) The Director, Primary Health Care Services in Shira Local Governmnet, Bauchi State, Mr Ibrahim Ahmed, has commended the Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN) for promoting antenatal, routine immunisation and hospital deliveries in rural communities.

Ahmed made the commendation on Tuesday in Shira when members of FOMWAN paid an advocacy visit to the leadership of the local government council.

Ahmed said that the intervention of the association in conducting house-to-house advocacy and championing the activities of women and children, and public health has helped in encouraging rural dwellers to patronise health centres.

“Women in this organisation has help towards ensuring that the women in our communities attend antenatal clinics, routine immunisation and accept other maternal health issues as at when due.

“We are happy with your programmes and we encourage them to spread it to other human sectors especially education,” he said.

The North East Zonal Coordinator of the association, Hajiya Fatima Mohammed, said their visit was a fact finding mission aimed at improving and broadening the horizon of the activities of the local chapters.

Mohammed re-iterated the commitment of FOMWAN to engage in programmes that would promote the welfare of the vulnerable in the society, particularly women and children. (NAN)
