APC Primaries: Nasarawa stakeholders demand justice

called for justice and fairness in resolving disputes arising from the conduct of its nationwide primaries.

Alhaji Ahmadu Ogotoyi, the spokesman of the group, made the appeal at a news conference on Friday in Keffi.

Ogotoyi alleged that there was no primary election in their constituency.

He also alleged that the party just filed the name of one Mr Umar Osu as the APC candidate for the state House of Assembly seat for the constituency.

“We are protesting against what we described as kangaroo primary election carried out by the All Progressives Congress (APC) which will not stand the test of time.

“Name of an aspirant was just written and submitted to the party without primary election conducted,” he alleged.

According to him, Mr Abubakar Kana, the incumbent member is the preferred person that the stakeholders and the people of our constituency want but the party do otherwise.

He threatened that the aggrieved constituents would move or defect to other political parties if the national leadership of the party failed to address their grievance soonest.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Kana (APC-Kokona West), the incumbent member at the state House of Assembly, lost out during the party’s primary election to Osu.

NAN also learnt that Kana has petitioned the national leadership of the party over non-conduct of the primary election in his constituency.

However, the lawmaker said his complaint was yet to be addressed. (NAN)

Stakeholders laud APC, appeals for more democracy dividends

Akun (Nasarawa State), April 18, 2017 (NAN) The All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders in Akun Development Area of Nasarawa State has appreciated the development strides of the present administration in the country.

The stakeholders made the commendation on Tuesday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Akun.

They specifically lauded the efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari and Gov. Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State for trying to impact positively on the lives of Nigerians.

They have also passed a vote of confidence on Buhari and Al-Makura, but appealed for more dividends of democracy.

They demanded for more government presence in the areas of infrastructural development and social amenities such as poverty eradication, affordable healthcare, functional educational, roads, stable electricity, water supply and agricultural inputs.

Mr Moses Malle, the Overseer of Akun Development Area Council, said that Buhari and Al-Makura deserved commendation for executing projects that have direct bearing on the lives of the people.

“Everybody in the state has seen what the government of Gov. Tanko Al-Makura has done since its inception in transforming the education, agriculture, economic, health, judicial and commercial sectors, among others, towards fighting poverty and hunger.

“The construction of bridges and culverts across rural communities will not only reduce the hardship faced by our people but will also fight poverty, unemployment, boost agricultural production as well as the socio-economic development of the state,’’ Malle said.

He assured the state government of his people’s resolve to continue to support the present administration at all levels to enable them succeed.

Mr Baba Affiku, an APC chieftain in the area, said that Al-Makura deserved commendation for his giant developmental stride across the state which had impacted positively on the lives of the people.

“Nowhere that one would go in this state without seeing the signature of Gov. Al-Makura in projects execution.

“Al-Makura has constructed bridges and culverts which have opened up rural communities thereby reducing the hardship faced by our people.

“But we are still appealing to him to do more in the area of providing more hospitals in our area, electricity to some communities who are yet to get in order to boost their socio-economic activities,” he said.

Affiku also urged the people of the area to continue to pray and support Gov. Al-Makura administration’s to enable him succeed.

Another stakeholder, Mr Monday Nanza, a former Administrator of the area, also applauded Buhari and Al-Makura for initiating people oriented projects.

“Al-Makura has done a lot in all sectors of the economy which is impacting positively on the lives of the people of the state, hence the need for us to appreciate him and to assure him of our continue support at all the time,” he said.

“We are thanking Gov. Tanko Al-Makura and his deputy, Hon. Silas Ali Agara, for what they have done to the people of Akun especially in the area of infrastructural development, appointments, among others.

“We have benefited a lot and we will continue to support this government,’’ he said. (NAN)
