Abuja, Nov. 21, 2018 (NAN) The National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) on Thursday said the 2018 International Women Development Summit would expose and showcase indigenous products and services to the world.
The National President of the council, Mrs Gloria Shoda, told newsmen in Abuja that women within and outside FCT should take advantage of the programme by participating actively.
Shoda said that the women participation would help to showcase indigenous products and services.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the three-day summit is convened by Prime Unique Women Initiative, an NGO, and powered by Skyehigh Security Safety and Skills in conjunction with the NCWS.
Shoda said the event has been slated for Nov. 26 to Nov. 28 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The president said that the event was designed to create awareness on government policy as it concerns women, children, family and personal security.
Shoda described women as the fulcrum of micro and small entreprises in the Nigerian economy and Africa in general.
According to her, the summit thus takes cognisance of the various challenges faced by Nigerian women in the areas of business, investment, security, socio-economic growth and sustainability.
Solutions would be proffered to mitigate these problems, she said.
The Convener of the summit, Dr Folake Yobah of the Prime Unique Women Initiative, an NGO, said the organisers and their partners have strategically put together successful local and international resource persons, entrepreneurs and professionals from the public and private sectors.
Yobah assured that the resource persons would bring their wealth of experience and expertise to bear for immense benefit of participants and stakeholders.
She said the summit is themed: ‘Strategic Women Development for Sustainable National Growth and Security.’ (NAN)

Abuja, June 14, 2017 (NAN) Participants at the two-day pre-summit on investing in youths have adopted nine strategies for a successful implementation of the upcoming main national summit in Abuja.

This is contained in the next steps document made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) by the organisers of the summit on Wednesday in Abuja.

The participants agreed to follow up with the Office of Vice President (OVP) and Acting President for the actualisation of National Summit tagged: “Harnessing demographic dividend in Nigeria by investing in youths’’.

They also resolved to ensure deployment of database and software to facilitate the implementation of Demographic Dividend (DD) observatory in the OVP and involve CSOs, NGOs, faith-based organisations and traditional leaders in the DD programming at the state level.

The participants further agreed to involve data producers (MBNP, NPopC and NBS) in the tracking of DD observatory indicators as well as partner with the NYSC and other youth groups to enhance communication of the key messages of the DD at the grassroots.

Besides, they resolved to ensure effective communication plan for harnessing the DD, sensitise governors and facilitate National Transfer Account (NTA) for the 36 States and the FCT.

Similarly, the stakeholders agreed to implement post-summit activities including development of an action plan for DD programming and partner with the media (print/electronic/social) for dialogue, advocacy, communication and branding of DD issues.

NAN reports that the meeting attracted not less than 35 representatives from line MDAs, development partners, CSOs and the media.

The event, which was steered by the National Population Commission, was sponsored by the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) in collaboration with Population Council. (NAN)

Kaduna, Jan. 18, 2017 (NAN) The Paediatric Association of Nigeria (PAN) says it will promote child survival issues at its 2017 Annual Conference in Kaduna scheduled for Jan. 24 to 28.

A statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) indicates that PAN had chosen “Consolidating child health development in Nigeria through SDGs; Gainers and Gaps of the MDGs”, as theme for the conference, which is the 48th.

A major highlight of the five-day event, which has been billed for the Department of Paediatrics, ABU, Teaching Hospital, Zaria, is a health awareness walk, with the theme:  “Support Child Health”.

“The 2017 meeting promises to be at the cutting edge of technological advancements in paediatrics,.

“PAN envisions a world where every child is born with equitable and optimal chance to survive, grow and develop”, the association said, in its statement , signed by Prof. G.O. Ogunrinde and Prof. A.A. Orogade, Chairman and Secretary, respectively, of the Local Organising Committee.

The statement added that the meeting would articulate areas of support for government and other stakeholders in the review, implementation, supervision, monitoring and evaluation of child survival strategies and policies in Nigeria.
