Lagos, Jan. 24, 2017 (NAN) An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Tuesday fixed Jan. 27 to sentence a tailor, Ismali Danjuma, who burgled the house of one Kunle Adesanye and stole valuables worth N13, 000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Y. O Ekogbule, fixed the date after Danjuma pleaded guilty to a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
She said that the accused should be remanded in the Kirikiri Prisons, and adjourned the case for facts and sentence.
Danjuma, 26, resides in Abule-Egbe area of Lagos State.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Clement Okuoimose told the court that the accused committed the offences on Jan. 22 at No. 25, Adamo Kabiawo St., Agege, Lagos.
He said that the accused broke into the complainant’s house and stole different types of Ankara fabrics and a school bag.
Okuoimose said that the accused destroyed the window burglar proof of the children’s room to gain entry when the complainant and his family had gone to church.
“The complainant was in church when one of his neighbours called him on phone to inform him that they caught a man jumping out from his room through the window.
“The complainant got home and discovered that all his rooms and wardrobes had been ransacked,” he said.
According to the prosecutor, all the stolen items were recovered by neighbours and handed over to the police.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the accused, according to the provisions of Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011, may get as much as three years imprisonment if found guilty. (NAN)
