Lagos April 24, 2017 (NAN) Mr Kehinde Oluwafunsho, a Tourism Consultant, has advised artistes to subscribe to the various life insurance schemes because of the nature of their job.
“Nigerian artistes should get life insurance policies that could take good care of them in any life storm.
“They should also take good care of themselves; go for holidays away from acting where they can cool off, and have regular medical checkups,’’ he said.
Oluwafunsho told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Lagos that this was imperative following the recent demise of veteran Nollywood actor, Olumide Bakare.
NAN reports that the late Bakare, fondly called `Chief Koko of Koko Close’ following his role in the television series on NTA; was discharged from the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, last year, after he was allegedly diagnosed with a respiratory disorder.
Oluwafunsho who is also Nigeria’s Representative at the Pan Africa Historical Theatre Project (PANAFEST) said that it was disheartening to hear the rate at which actors and actresses were falling ill.
They don’t have sympathisers that can assist them financially to attend to their deplorable health situations, leading to their untimely death, he said.
Oluwafunsho said that artistes were usually exposed to all manner of social vices during their movements from one movie location to another.
He said that during such periods, they hardly have time to take proper care of their health conditions.
The consultant advised artistes to always eat healthy food, desist from unhealthy behaviours that could impair their conditions later in life.(NAN)
