Berlin, July 14, 2017 (dpa/NAN) Ankara has on Friday ruled out a visit by German lawmakers to a NATO military base in Konya in south-western Turkey amid tensions between the two nations, Berlin officials said.
“The German Foreign Ministry informed members of the parliamentary Defence Committee that Turkey had asked for the trip scheduled for Monday to be postponed due to the state of bilateral relations,’’ Committee Chairman Wolfgang Hellmich, said.
Ankara had agreed early in the month that seven Bundestag members could visit the Konya base where German troops are stationed as part of the international fight against the militant IS in Syria and Iraq.
