Imprisonment
Minna, June 6, 2018 (NAN) A Minna Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday sentenced two men to nine months imprisonment for stealing an electrical cable.
The Magistrate, Jibrin Zabo, sentenced Mohammed Alhaji and Jamilu Isah on a three-count charge of criminal conspiracy, criminal trespass and theft.
Zabo, however, ordered that the convicts should, in the alternative, pay N30,000 each as fine.
The Police Prosecutor, Insp. Ahmed Ali, told the court that a police patrol team arrested and brought the convicts to the Kpakungu Police Station, Minna on June 1.
Ali stated that they trespassed into the house of one Abdulfatai Jimoh and stole his electrical cable.
He noted that the offences were contrary to Sections 97, 343 and 288 of the Penal Code.
When the charges were read to convicts, they both pleaded guilty and begged the court for leniency.
The prosecutor prayed the court to try them summarily in line with Section 157 of the Criminal Procedure Code. (NAN)
