Unemployed man remanded for alleged robbery

Ikeja, June 25, 2018 (NAN) An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Monday remanded an unemployed man, Moses Akuma, in Kirikiri Prisons for allegedly brandishing a knife to rob a motorist stuck in traffic.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr J. A. Adegun, remanded the accused in Kirikiri Medium Prisons and ordered that the case file should sent to the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.

Akuma, 23, who resides at Mile 2 in Lagos, is being tried for conspiracy and robbery.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Clifford Ogu, told the court that the accused committed the offences with one other person still at large on June 5 at Mile 2.

Ogu said that the accused stole two mobile phones, valued at N250, 000 and N150, 000 at knife point from one Chukwudi Njeadache.

“The complainant was held-up in traffic on his way home from work when the accused and his accomplice attacked him under the guise of begging for arms.

“They collected the items and threatened to kill the complainant if he doesn’t cooperate with them.

“Immediately they left, the accused raise alarm and some passersby apprehend the accused, while his accomplice escaped, “Ogu said.

According to him, the offences contravened Sections 297 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The case was adjourned until July 15 for the DPP’s advice. (NAN)
