Entitlements

Lafia, Jan. 10, 2017 (NAN) The Nasarawa State Transport Service Branch of the Amalgamated Union of Public Civil Servants, Technical and Recreational Service Employees (AUPCSTRSE) has urged the state government to pay entitlements of its members disengaged four years ago.
Mr Danjuma Kpanja-Yakubu, the chairman of the defunct transport service branch of the union, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Lafia that settling the entitlements would improve their standard of living.
“I want to use this medium once again to appeal to Gov. Tanko Al-Makura to consider our suffering and settle our four years entitlements.
“The governor should pity us and come to our rescue, by assisting us to clear all our outstanding entitlements.
“We know that the governor is trying, but, considering that most of us are the bread-winners, he should pay us, to enable us to put smiles on the faces of our family members,” he pleaded.
According to the chairman, the struggle for the entitlements to be paid by the state government, has been lingering for four years now, since their disengagement from service.
Kpanja-Yakubu lauded the state assembly and other stakeholders for intervening on their behalf.
He, however, urged them to do more to enable them to get their entitlements and improve their standard of living.
“The assembly has asked that we should be reinstated and given all our entitlements, but nothing was done about it, and our issue has been forgotten,” he said.
Kpanja-Yakubu pledged the loyalty of the members of the union to the state government, despite the non-payment of their entitlements.
He commended Al-Makura’s developmental strides across the state, and called for its sustenance. (NAN)
