Varsity, NGOs, others embark on medical intervention in Ogun

Abeokuta, April 9, 2018 (NAN) Wheels of Hope Rising Foundation, an NGO, says it is partnering with the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), and the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), to embark on medical intervention in Ogun.
The President of the Foundation, Adigun Temitope made this known in a separate interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Ogun.
NAN reports that the rural dwellers in Isaga-Orile in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun recently benefitted from free medical and educational intervention facilitated by the NGO, FUNAAB and NMA, Ogun chapter.
Other NGOs in the partnership are Gender Development Initiative, Small Adults Initiative and Hephzy Bakes and Events.
The beneficiaries of the medical intervention which centred on check-up, diagnosis, general hygiene, environment and good nutrition were the aged, men, women and youths as well as children.
Adigun told NAN that the NGO brought the medical outreach to improve the health conditions of the rural dwellers and to give back to the society by assisting the less privileged.
“We want to achieve full restoration of the people. We carried out diagnosis on them and prescribed drugs to restore their health.
“The little, which God has given us, we should render help with it. Government cannot do everything”.
He said that the intervention also exposed the villagers on how to engage in family planning due to the harsh economic realities and ensure that their children were exposed to immunisations.
In a similar interview, Prof. Victor Olowe, Director, Agricultural Media Resoruces and Extension Centre (AMREC) at FUNAAB, said the programme was one of the rural intervention healthcare and education for all vision of the university.
He affirmed that FUNAAB was committed to giving hope to the masses in deserted communities through various means.
Dr Charles Erinle of NMA also told NAN that the association ensured that the beneficiaries were subjected to thorough medical screening after which appropriate medication were prescribed for them.
It was gathered that the Onisaga of Isaga-Orile, Oba Oladele Olusoji Tella, described the intervention as good initiative that would lead to the medical and economical development of the people of the town. (NAN)
