Youth Empowerment: ADB enlists Oyo as beneficiary

By Akeem Abas Ibadan, Jan. 23, 2017 (NAN) The Africa Development Bank (ADB) has enlisted the Oyo State Government to benefit from its youth empowerment programme.
Dr Ousmane Dore, the outgoing ADB Country Director in Nigeria, disclosed this on Tuesday during a courtesy visit on Gov. Abiola Ajimobi in Ibadan.
Dore listed the two programmes the state would benefit from as Enable Youth Programme (EYP) and Agricultural Transformation and Development Programme (ATDP).
He explained that the two ADB projects were basically to help youths address the challenges of unemployment, while exploring the value chain in agriculture.
Dore noted that the programmes would also go a long way in complementing the policies of the state government.
“ADB has set aside grant for its industrialised Africa agenda and Oyo state is a major beneficiary. The state is presently a beneficiary of the African Industrialisation Focus,” he said.
Responding, Ajimobi appreciated the outgoing country director, adding that the only way for progressive development in Africa is to collectively focus on agriculture.
The governor also implored the ADB to focus more on infrastructural development. (NAN)
