Lagos, May 28, 2019 (NAN) The Media Officer of Crown FC of Ogbomosho, Olatunji Alabi, on Tuesday said that the club would go all-out to surpass its previous records in the AITEO Cup by targeting a semi-final berth.

Alabi made the objective of the club known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

The media officer, who spoke against the backdrop of his club’s 3-0 mauling of Bayelsa United FC Feeders team in their first game in the competition, added that they had started the competition on a bright note.

NAN reports that the club narrowly lost out in the quarter-finals in the 2018 edition of the competition.

“When the season started we set a target that we want to gain promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League and also make sure that we play in the semi-finals of the AITEO Cup.

“Our target is to better the performance of our previous campaigns in the AITEO Cup, and we are motivated to do that. We have the support of the management of the club towards this agenda.

“More than this, the General Manager of the club also urged us to improve ahead of the tasking challenges in the competition.

“The manager gave us a huge task of winning the competition in his address after the defeat of the Bayelsa Feeders team which was a huge gift for his birthday,” he said.

Alabi disclosed to NAN that the club had several motivational incentives that would be put in place as the team advances into the round of 32.

“This is where the real competition starts, and I’m optimistic the players will perform beyond expectation,” he said.

NAN reports that Crown FC has qualified for the round of 32 fixtures of the 2019 NFF/AITEO Cup.

The “Ajilete Warriors’’ currently top the Group B4 log table of the NNL with 10 points in the Southern Conference, and are waiting for the kick-off of the second stanza. (NAN)
