2019 Mini Masters Basketball Championships: We’re grateful NBBF support — Proprietor

Lagos, April 26, 2019 (NAN) Joel Adams, the Proprietor, Kiddies Impact Basketball Academy, has expressed gratitude to the Nigeria Basketball Federations (NBBF) for the support given to him during the U-12 NNPC/Shell Mini Masters Basketball Championships.

The competition which held at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Lagos saw no fewer than 11 basketball academies competing favourably for the championship’s trophy.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Kiddies Impact basketball Academy organised the championships in which 11 other academies participated.

At the end of the competition which began on April 21 and ended on April 25, Warlords Basketball Academy of Sango Ota in Ogun defeated Topfield of Apapa, Lagos 12-10 to emerge the 2019 champions.

An elated Adams told the NAN that he felt fulfilled having set the pace in organising a grassroots event for the future champions.

“I am happy at the achievement and the pace I have set for identifying with U-12 basketball players who in the nearest future can give back to the country by winning many laurels.

“This is the beginning of their career and, especially because we try to inculcate the values of education and good morals in them.

“I really appreciate President Musa Kida and the entire board of NBBF for their support; they have seen the young players and they can take over from where I have stopped.

“I also want to thank, most especially the Nigeria National Petroleum Cooperation (NNPC) and Shell for their corporate backing, indeed I am grateful.

“The essence of this Mini Masters tournament is to catch the kids at the age and inculcate the right values into them and also build their mental alertness,’’ Adams said.

NAN reports that Warrior Academy of Yaba defeated Dell Basketball of Ikorodu, 29-24 to emerge bronze medal winners.

Other teams that competed in the competition are Five Fingers Foundation, Lagos, Impression Academy from Asaba, Delta, Elevators Academy from Kano, Book `N’ Bball Academy from Oshogbo in Osun.

Patriots Academy from Bayelsa, Macspencer Academy Surulere, and Bobcats Academy from Agbado Lagos make up the other teams.(NAN)
