ICT expert says WhatsApp Business App will accelerate growth of small businesses

Abuja, May 14, 2018 (NAN) Mr Sony Ige, an ICT expert at the GSM Village, Abuja, says downloading and maximising the use of the WhatsApp Business App will help small businesses to grow faster.

Ige said this while speaking in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday.

WhatsApp Business, a standalone app separate from the other versions of WhatsApp was launched in January for Android and it is used across different countries by business owners.

He said WhatsApp Business was available for download on Google Play Store and it was designed such that “it is easier and more convenient for companies to connect with customers and discuss business.’’

He however said the app would ask for a separate phone number from the one users had for their individual WhatsApp account.

The official blog of WhatsApp (blog. whatsapp.com), said the WhatsApp Business was built for people all over the world to improve their business experience.

According to it, over three million people are actively using WhatsApp Business app from online clothing stores to auto parts stores.

Omolara Nari, a small business owner, who has been using the app for the past one month, said it had helped to grow her small baking businesses.

“This is because the app is built in such a way that it creates an official presence between customers and business owners.’’

Another businessman, Mr Okon Akoh, said he was still exploring the app on how it would help to grow his business faster and “in a simple way’’. (NAN)
