Adamawa United FC needs N8m monthly to up performance — Chairman

Yola, July 27, 2017 (NAN) Emmanuel Zira, Chairman, Adamawa United FC, says the club requires a minimum of N 8million per month to better its performance in the ongoing Nigeria National League (NNL) Group A2.

Zira, who made the assertion in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Yola, said poor funding was the bane of the club’s performance.

“It is a known fact that there is poor funding of our club and that leads to poor performance of our team in the ongoing NNL.

“Our sponsorship has been poor, so much that our players will arrive match venues late due to lack of funds.

“Ordinarily, we could have lost some of our matches, the matches we lost were due to poor logistics; poor preparations on the part of our management but all these were due to lack of finance.

“This problem of poor funding dates back to 2010 and it continues; in fact, I have incurred over N19 million debt for sponsoring our team and the money has not been paid,’’ he said.

Zira, however, said that Gov. Mohammed Bindow had promised to strengthen the club financially so that it could compete favourably against its opponents.

“I must commend our governor for promising to improve our funding; he has shown his commitment to uplift football in particular and the sports in general.

“I have also assured him that if the funding is improved, we have the potential to reach the Promised Land in football,’’ the chairman added.

NAN reports that the Adamawa United has played 16 matches in the ongoing NNL; it drew one, won seven and lost eight. (NAN)
