Daura(Katsina), 11 Aug. 2020(NAN) Some schools in Daura, katsina State on Tuesday recorded high students’ turnout following Federal Government’s directive on  resumption of activities for students in graduating classes.

A News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) correspondent who went round reports  that academic activities had fully resumed.

NAN reports that authorities of the schools visited showed remarkable compliance with established COVID-19 protocols.

Speaking to NAN, Hajiya Sa’adatu Sani, Principal, Government Girls’ Secondary School Daura, said that the students were happy returning to school.

“Already, 527 students out of 741 of them in exiting classes have resumed fully for academic activities.

“We have received face masks from the zonal education office, we have also made provisions for hand washing equipment,” she said.

Also speaking, the Principal, Dan Bukar Secondary School, Mr Muhammad  Lawal, said the school authority undertook the fumigation of the school environment through self-help.

He said the essence was to ensure that both the students and staff of the school were safe, adding, “we won’t joke with the health of anybody.”

“We have recorded an impressive turnout of students, we are fully observing established safety measures.

“As you can see, we have only 12 students in each class, this is to ensure social distancing,” he said.(NAN)

Agency trains youths on auto-mobile mechanics, electrical installations in Daura

Daura(Katsina) July 21, 2020 (NAN) The National Agency of Science and Engineering Infrastructure has begun training of 50 youths on auto-mobile mechanic and electrical installation in Daura area of Katsina State.

Sen. Ahmad Babba-kaita, Representing Katsina North, who spoke during the launch on Tuesday said that participants were selected from the 12 local government in senatorial district.

Babba-Kaita, represented by Alhaji Isma’il Dalhat urged the participants not to sell the tools collected from the training but make good use of them.

“It is worth thousands of naira, make use of them well, so as to be self-sufficient and independent”, the lawmaker said.

He thanked  President Muhammad Buhari and NASENI for the support.

Also, Sen. Abdullahi Barkiya, representing Katsina Central, who spoke at the event, congratulated the youths and urged them to be self-reliant after the knowledge acquired from the training.

Prof. Sani Haruna, Director-General, NASENI, said that the organisation was the only agency mandated to research, develop and produce engineering and scientific products for small and medium scale entrepreneurs.

Haruna advised participants to pay attention on the programme as it was a rare opportunity accorded them to be self reliant. (NAN)

Katsina govt releases N14m compensation for Sandamu road project

Sandamu (Katsina) June 25, 2020 (NAN) Katsina State Government has paid N14 million compensation to owners of farmlands for the construction of Karkarku Gurjiya-Dangau-Kwasarawa road in Sandamu Local Government Area of the state.

Alhaji Kasimu Ibrahim, Permanent Secretary, Politicals and Common Services, handed over cheques to the beneficiaries on Thursday in Sandamu.

Ibrahim said the road project was part of the state government’s plan for the overall development of the state.

He urged people of the area to continue supporting the administration of Gov.  Aminu Masari for more dividends  of democracy.

The council’s Head of Administration, Alhaji Usman Darda’u, commended the state government for making the dream of people in the area a reality.

He said that the road would enhance economic activities in the area and enhance the livelihood of the people.

In his comments, the District Head of Sandamu, Alhaji Yau Sani expressed appreciation on behalf of the people,  to the state government for embarking on the project.

He called for more support to the government as it strives to make life more meaningful for the  people. (NAN)

Emir of Daura reshuffles councillors to promote peace, unity

Daura (Katsina State), June 17, 2020 (NAN) The Emir of Daura, Dr Umar Farouk, has effected a minor reshufflement of his councillors in order to promote peace and unity in the emirate.

The Chief information Officer to the Emirate Council, Malam Usman Ibrahim, confirmed this to the News agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday at emir palace in Daura.

Ibrahim said the Sarkin Tsafta of Daura, Alhaji Lawal Usman, had been promoted to serve as new Kauran Daura, making him (Usman) to be among the kingmakers in Daura emirate, while the Sarkin Sudan, Alhaji Yusuf Nalado, would serve as Senior Special Adviser to the emir.

According to spokesman, the first class traditional ruler had charged the newly promoted councillors to serve with loyalty and justice as well as promote peace and unity.

The emir, he said, also enjoined his subjects to sustain their prayers for peace and unity across the state and the country at large.

The monarch further urged his people to uphold mutual tolerance and patience in line with the teaching of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W).

“A true believer is one with whom others feel secure. One who returns love for hatred,” the emir quoted the prophet as saying. (NAN)

Lawmaker disburses cash to constituents in Katsina for Eid-el-Fitr celebration

Mai’adua (Katsina), May 21, 2020 (NAN) Mustapha Rabe, representing Mai’adua Constituency in Katsina State House of Assembly, has commenced the disbursement of N4.8 million to people in his constituency for Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

Mustapha (APC) told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday that the gesture, which also included 300 bags of rice, was to assist orphans and the less privileged in Mai’adua.

He said that each of the 500 beneficiaries, which cut across the 10 wards, would get N5,000 each, while the remaining money would be shared by APC stakeholders in the constituency.

He urged the people to celebrate with modesty and ensure they practice proper hygiene and social distancing during the celebration.

He enjoined the people to use Eid-el-Fitr to offer special prayers to Almighty Allah to overpower the COVID-19 pandemic in Katsina, Nigeria and the world at large. (NAN)

Daura(Katsina) May 11, 2020 (NAN) Rep.Fatuhu Muhammad representing Daura/Sandamu/Maiadua federal constituency has donated a truck load of noodles to his constituents to cushion the effect of COVID-19 lockdown.
Muhammad, represented by his personal assistant, Mr Aliyu Haruna presented the items at a ceremony on Monday in Daura.
He said that the noodles would be distributed to the less privileged across the three Local Government Areas (LGAs) of his constituency as palliative cushion the effect of COVID-19 lockdown.
Muhammad urged Muslim faithful to intensify prayers during the Ramadan fast so they can build their faith in Allah.
He also urged them to pray for Allah’s protection against COVID-19.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the lawmaker had recently disbursed N8.2million cash as a palliative to 1650 vulnerable households in Daura to cushion the effect of COVID-19 lockdown.(NAN)

Daura (Katsina State) April 24, 2020 (NAN) Alhaji Fatuhu Muhammad, representing Daura/Maiadua/Sandamu Federal Constituency, on Friday doled out N8.2 million to the poor and vulnerable in Daura local  government area, Katsina state.

The lawmaker, who was represented by his Personal Assistant, Alhaji Aliyu Haruna, said the beneficiaries cut across the 11 wards of the local government.

He said the gesture was to ameliorate the hardship of the poor during COVID-19 pandemic and the holy month of Ramadan

Muhammad said each of the seven wards in Daura would get N900, 000 due to their large population, while the four other wards outside the town would get N500, 000 each.

According to him, 1,650 people will benefit from the gesture, including orphans, aged, disable and vulnerable persons

The APC Chairman in Daura LGA, Alhaji Sabo Altine, promised that a committee would be constituted to disburse the money judiciously

Altine urged the people to pray and maintain good hygiene to check the spread of the COVID-19. (NAN)

Gov. Masari donates 2 truck-load of rice to Daura local govt.

Daura (Katsina), April 21, 2020 (NAN) Daura Local Government Council, Katsina state said it had received two truck-load of 50kg bags of rice donated by the Gov. Aminu Masari.

The two trucks contain 1,200 bags of the commodity.

The Chairman of the council, Alh. Hussaini Rafin-Dadi said this during an interactive session with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Daura on Tuesday.

According to Rafin-Dadi, the gesture is a means of identifying with vulnerable people and giving them support amid the lockdown imposed on the local government to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

The chairman said that the less privileged, people living with disabilities as well as persons who depended on daily income would be given prime attention.

In his remarks, Nasir yahaya, the member representing Daura Constituency in the state’s House of Assembly, expressed appreciation to the governor for providing for the people at such a challenging period.

He urged the people in the area to be patient and to remain law-abiding citizens. (NAN)
