Lawmaker donates Islamic, deaf schools to Daura community

Daura (Katsina), Dec. 14, 2022 (NAN) A lawmaker, Alhaji Nasir Yahaya has donated an Islamic and deaf learning centre to Daura community in Katsina State.

Nasir (APC – Daura State Constituency), stated this at the formal presentation of the project to the community on Wednesday in Daura.

He said the gesture would enhace teaching of Islamic knowledge and access to quality education to people with special needs, especially the deaf.

The legislator noted that education for the deaf would improve their communication skills and build their capacities to become productive and self-reliant.

In his remarks, Umar Dikko-Radda, the All Progressive Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in the state, lauded the gesture.

He said: “I haven’t seen a member of the State House of Assembly who did such a good work in his constituency using his personal money”.

The governorship hopeful promised to transform the education sector, especially the special education programme,  if elected.

Also speaking, Bala Musa, Chairman, Daura Local Government Council, commended the gesture, adding it would make positive impact on the lives of the people in the area.

Masari encourages herders,farmers to pursue religious and western education

Daura (Katsina State) Dec.2, 2022, (NAN) Gov.Aminu Masari of Katsina State has urged  the indigenous herders and farmers to continue enrolling their children in schools.

Masari spoken  with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday during  the distribution of  relief materials to 600 peopleacross 10 local government areas  affected by insecurity in the state held in Dan-nakola village,Daura Local Government.

Masari charged  the indigenous herders and farmers to pursue religious and western education so that their lives could be better and they would be useful to their communities.

He said that his administration, within its power, would work for lasting peace between farmers and herders in Katsina State.

“These has  made the state government to seek support from the Federal Government to provide schools with permanent pastures,hospitals,mosques, modern diaries for healthcare of farmers and herders”,he said.

He emphasised that there would be no peace with the terrorists, stressing that the government would continue to take measures against terrorism in the state.

He urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of  the items they recieved,so that their lives would  be productive.

In his remark, the Chairman  of the Miyetti Allah Association of Nigeria,Katsina State chapter,Mr  Mannir Lamido,expressed gratitude to the governor for showing compassion and improving the lives  of Fulani in Katsina State.

He enjoined farmers and herders to continue supporting government programmes.

The Special Adviser on Livestock and Grazing, Dr Usman Bagiwa, said that the Katsina State Government had constructed veterinary clinic in Funtua Local Government and rehabilitated veterinary clinics in Daura,Kankia,Mani, and Musawa Local Government Areas.

“The abbatoirs in  Katsina and Kankia Local Government Areas had been rehabilitated with modern facilities for the consumption of safe meat by the public,” he said.

“Between 2020 and  2022, his office has generated more than N18million  as revenue to the state government, “he added.

School in Daura graduates 41 Qur’anic memorisers

Daura (Katsina), Nov. 16, 2022 (NAN) An Islamic school, Madarasatul Ulil Ahbab has graduated 41 students on Qur’anic memorisation in Daura, Katsina State.

The Headmaster of the school, Malam Ibrahim Ahmad said this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) during the 4th graduation ceremony of the school on Wednesday.

He said that out of the 41 graduating students, one is a married woman, 29 males and 11 females.

The headmaster urged the graduating students to be law abiding and good ambassadors of the school.

The Rector, Federal Polytechnic Daura, Prof. Aliyu Mamman who recited some verses of the Holy Qur’an with the students, enjoined them to pray for peace in the country.

Mamman called on them to utilise the knowledge acquired by leading an exemplary life and avoiding immoral acts such as drug abuse, banditry and other un-Islamic practices.

Alhaji Aminu Jamo, All Progressives Congress candidate for Daura/Sandamu/Maiadua federal constituency, commended the school and pledged to support it.

“I will continue to support the quest for both Islamic and western education for the development of the society,” he added.

One of the graduating students, Habiba Abdulrahman, expressed gratitude to God for successfully memorising the Holy Qur’an.

She urged her colleagues to practice what they had learnt so as to lead an exemplary life.

NAN reports that the school has so far graduated 365 students who specialised in reading and memorizing the Qur’an. (NAN)

Emir of Daura, Katsina State, tasks youths to be law abiding

Daura (Katsina), Oct. 30, 2020 (NAN) The Emir of Daura, Dr Umar Farouk, on Friday tasked Nigeria youths to be law-abiding.

Addressing religious leaders, district heads, village heads, security personnel, government officials as well as the general public at a special prayer session in his palace to mark the annual birthday of Prophet Muhammed, the emir urged everyone to maintain the peace and the unity of the country.

He said the prayer session also aimed at intensifying the peace, unity and the progress of the country in the face of numerous challenges, including insecurity, which it was facing.

The emir commended states, the Federal Governments and the entire people of the emirate for the love showed to him since he became the 60th emir of Daura

He equally tasked the youths in Daura to exempt themselves from illegalities and to continue to support governments at all levels.

“Winning the war against insecurity and other challenges bedevilling the nation is collective responsibility of all citizens,’’ he stressed.

Responding, the Secretary to the State Government, Mustapha Inuwa, who represented Gov. Aminu Masari, thanked the emir for his efforts at ensuring progressive, peace and unity in Daura; in Katsina State and in Nigeria in general.

He said parents and community leaders needed to expedite action in providing quality education for their children and wards and also urged the people of Katsina State to be law abiding as the state government was making efforts  to uplift their standard of living. (NAN)

Lawmaker donates N11m transformer to constituents in Daura

Daura (Katsina State) Oct. 28, 2020 (NAN) A member of Katsina State House of Assembly, Alhaji Nasir Yahaya has donated an 11KVA transformer to boost electricity supply to Kalgo village in Daura Local Government Area of the state.

The lawmaker, who represents Daura constituency, said on Wednesday in Daura that the gesture was to end the blackout in the area, which has no stable power supply for over five years.

Yahaya said that the cost and installation of the transformer was about N11 million, and expressed the hope that it will be protected by the community.

“The donation became necessary considering the inadequate and unstable power supply that affected so many small scale businesses in the area,” he added.

Alhaji Yunusa Kalgo, who spoke on behalf of the community, appreciated the lawmaker for the donation, and said it would help to enhance economic activities in the area.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Yahaya had also embarked on the repair of broken water pipes in Daura, to boost potable water supply to residents. (NAN)

Sirika urges Nigerians to embrace peace, unity

Daura (Katsina), Oct.  27, 2020 (NAN) The Minister of Aviation, Alhaji Hadi Sirika, has appeal to Nigerians to embrace peace and unity for the overall development of the country.

Sirika spoke to News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday, on the sideline of his courtesy visit to the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Farouk in Daura, Katsina State.

He spoke to the people of Daura emirate on the need to eschew violence and embracing peace, tranquillity and unity.

These, he said, are necessary in order to maintain togetherness, brotherhood and overall unity of Nigeria.

“No country can achieve salvation, sustainable socio-economic and political development without peace and unity among the citizenry,’’ the minister said.

He urged people of Katsina, in particular, to be good ambassadors of peace and unity of the nation.

He cited the saying of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) on the gravity of the offence for anybody who dispossesses others of their property.

Sirika encouraged Nigerians to shun any activity that contravenes societal norms or the laws of the land.

In his remarks, the Emir thanked the minister for always showing compassion to Nigerian citizens.

Farouk urged Nigerians to support President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration in building the nation and pray for the peace and unity of the country. (NAN)

Zango (Katsina) Oct. 26, 2020, (NAN) The Speaker, Katsina State House of Assembly, Alhaji Tasi’u Maigari has flagged off the rehabilitation of the 19km Zango-Rogogo road in Zango Local Government Area of the state.

The News Agency Nigeria (NAN) reports that event, held on Monday in Zango, was attended by the Commissioner of Works, Housing and Transport, Alhaji Tasiu Dandagoro.

The speaker said that the road was constructed over 40-year ago and had been in dilapidated condition for over a decade.

He applauded the state government for the intervention and pledged that the people of Zango will continue to support the administration.

Earlier, the commissioner, who represented Gov. Aminu Masari, said the state government had awarded contracts for the rehabilitation and uprage of several roads across the state to ease transportation.

He assured that the government would continue to improve on existing infrastructure and provide new ones to boost social and economic growth.

Lawmaker donates motorcycles, walkie-talkies to constituency

Kusada (Katsina), Oct. 20, 2020 (NAN) Alhaji Abubakar Kusada, APC member representing Kankia, Kusada and Ingawa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has donated motorcycles and walkie-talkies to fight insecurity in his constituency.

The Lawmaker’s Aide, Alhaji Bala Sani, confirmed the donation of the items to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Kusada Local Government Area of Katsina State.

According to him, the motorcycles are much smaller and can go to places that are not easily accessible to patrol vehicles to improve community relations and enhance security.

“Motorcycle patrols can be integrated into other operations and initiatives, targeted enforcement and surveillance,” he said.

Sani identified the beneficiaries of the equipment as police stations, vigilante groups, commercial motorcyclist groups and women public enlightenment groups in each of the three local government areas in the constituency.

Alhaji Abdulhamid Doranya, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Kusada Local Government Area, lauded the lawmaker’s efforts, describing it as a welcome development to end insecurity in the state.

He urged the constituents to continue to pray for the APC-led government in the country.

One of the beneficiaries, Malam Aminu Lawal, commended the donor’s efforts and promised that the people would continue to work tirelessly to enhance security in the area. (NAN)

Katsina lawmaker donates 33KVA transformer to community

Daura (Katsina), August. 24, 2020 (NAN) A member of the Katisna State House of Assembly, Nasir Yahaya, has donated a 33KVA transformer worth over N4 million to Kalgo community in Daura Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Yahaya (APC – Daura State Constituency), made the disclosure in a interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Monday in Daura.

He said the gesture was imperative to provide electricity to the constituents, hitherto, living without power as well as boost economic activities in the area.

Yahaya reiterated commitment to address erratic power supply and ensure the provision of dividends of democracy to the people in the area.

Also speaking, Sulaiman Jasko, the Ward Head of Kalgo community, lauded the gesture, adding that it would go a long way to address power problem being experienced in the community.

Jasko pledged support to government’s policies and programmes, to fast track sustainable social and economic development of the state.

Katsina SEMA records 1,727 flood victims in Baure

Baure (Katsina), Aug. 14, 2020 (NAN) The Katsina State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) said it registered 1,727 households that fall victim of flood in Baure Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

Chairman of the Agency, Babangida Nasamu, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Baure on Thursday that 1,626 victims had their houses destroyed by rainstorm.

He said the flooding affected Unguwar Rai, Hui, Yanduna, Kawarin Gyada and Dawaye villages while 101 farms were destroyed by hailstones in the local government.

He assured the community that the agency would provide shelter to those whose houses were destroyed and relief materials to put up new structures.

According to him, the agency will begin distribution of relief materials to the affected victims soon.

One of the victims, Malam Mamman Mujittaba appreciated government’s effort for sympathising with them and providing temporary shelter. (NAN)
