Iron bender docked over alleged stealing

Lagos, March 9, 2020 (NAN) A 31-year-old iron bender, Abiodun Odunayo, on Monday appeared before a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State, over alleged theft of iron rods worth N7,500.
The defendant, who is facing a count charge of theft, however, pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Insp. Ajaga Agboko, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offence on Feb. 28 at Shapati Town, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos.
He said that the defendant stole three lengths of 12mm iron rods worth N7,500, property of one Mr Mufutau Olapade.
Agboko said that Olapade caught the defendant carrying the rods away.
He noted that theft contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, and punishable with three years’ imprisonment.
The Magistrate, Mr T. A. Anjorin-Ajose, granted the defendant N20,000 bail with one surety in like sum.
The case has been adjourned until March 23 for further hearing. (NAN)
