Bollywood Oscars postponed as India coronavirus cases rise

New Delhi, March 6, 2020 (dpa/NAN) Organisers of the International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) on Friday announced, that the dubbed Bollywood’s Oscars, had been postponed due to fears about the coronavirus outbreak.

The three-day awards ceremony scheduled for the end of  March was being deferred “with due regard to the growing concerns around the spread of Covid-19 virus.

The IIFA said the decision was reached because it had to keep the health and safety of IIFA’s fans and the general community at large.

The event which would be the biggest event of the year for India’s massive movie industry was due to be in the central state of Madhya Pradesh from March 27-29. (dpa/NAN)
