Bus conductor, 31, remanded over alleged theft of N40,000

Lagos, March 22, 2018 (NAN) An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Thursday remanded 31-year-old Akeem Salami in Kirikiri Prisons for alleged house-break and stealing  of N40,000.

The accused who resides in Ayobo area of Lagos State is facing a three-count charge bordering on housebreaking and stealing.

The magistrate, Mrs A.R. Onilogbo, ordered the remand of the accused  in Kirikiri Prisons pending the receipt of legal advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPPs).

Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt. Ishola Samuel, had told the court that the accused broke the door of a house belonging to the complainant, Bisola Titanic.

Samuel said the accused used a hammer to break the door togain entrance into the complainant’apartment.

He alleged that the accused ransacked the apartment and stole N40,000 cash kept in a bag.

“Tijani caught Salami in the act while trying to escape and alerted people around who apprehended and handed him over to the police. ’’

Samuel said that the accused committed the offences on Feb. 26 at College Road in  Ifako, Lagos State.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 308 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.(Revised).

Onilogbo adjourned the case until April 10 . (NAN)
