Butcher docked for allegedly cheating businessman of cow worth N150,000

Abuja, May 14, 2019 (NAN) A 39-year-old man, Shakiru Olokunde, on Tuesday appeared in a Karu Grade I Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly stealing a businessman of cow worth N150,000.

The defendant, who resides in Lugbe, Abuja, is charged with criminal breach of trust, cheating and criminal misappropriation.

The Prosecutor, Vincent Osuji, told the court that one Mohammed Ibrahim of Karu Abattoir, Abuja reported the matter at the Karu Police Station, Abuja, on May 7.

“The complainant alleged that sometime in 2017, the defendant purchased a cow from him for N150,0000, with an  agreement to  pay the  next day.

“But with intend to cheat the complainant, the defendant sold the cow and dishonestly converted the money to his own personal use and absconded to an unknown destination.

|The defendant was traced and arrested on May 7, “Osuji said.

The prosecutor also said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 312, 322 and 309 of the Penal Code.

The judge, Sani Mohammed, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N150, 000 with one surety in like sum.

Mohammed ordered that the surety must live within the court’s jurisdiction.

He adjourned the case until June 19, for further hearing. (NAN)
