Cart pusher docked for stealing desktops, Tvs worth N10.9m

Ikeja, April 8, 2019 (NAN) A cart pusher, Musa Umaru, 20, who allegedly broke into a company and stole 26 pieces of desktops, five pieces of L.G television, two pieces of UPS and one CPU. all worth N10.9 million, on Monday appeared in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.

The police charged Umaru, who resides in Ojota area of Lagos State, with three counts of burglary, conspiracy and stealing.

The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Raphael Donny, told the court that Umaru with some persons at large, on March 29, broke into Telecom Satellite Limited (TSTV), Located at No. 11, Adekunle Fajuyi Way, Ikeja.

Donny said the defendant gained access through the window and stole 26 pieces of desktop, five pieces of L.G television, two pieces of UPS, one CPU and a carton of new printer that were kept and locked in the office, all valued at N10.939 million

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 287, 411 and 309 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

After the charge was read to him, the defendant pleaded not guilty.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 307 stipulates seven years jail term for the offence of burglary.

The Magistrate, Mrs B. O. Osunsanmi, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Osunsanmi ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed, show evidence of three years’ tax payment to the Lagos State Government

The case was adjourned until June 26 for mention. (NAN)
