By Abdullahi Shugaba
Dutse, Oct 2, 2019 (NAN) The newly appointed Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development in Jigawa State, Alhaji Kabiru Sugungu, on Wednesday warned staff of the 27 local councils across the state that absenteeism and lateness to office would not be tolerated under his watch.
Sugungu gave the warning in his maiden address to staff of the ministry in Dutse, admonishing them to imbibe punctuality to increase their productivity.
He said that the ministry would also not condone insubordination.
The commissioner said that punitive measures awaited erring staff that displayed wrong conduct that would retard productivity.
Sugungu cautioned the staff against sharp practices, corruption, rumour mongering and indiscipline, noting that the provision of civil service rules would be strictly adhered to, with merit rewarded and under-performers sanctioned.
He said that the ministry would ensure regular release of development funds to council areas to facilitate spread of democratic dividends across the grassroots.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Sugungu was among 11 commissioners and 15 Special Advisers sworn-in on Sept. 30 by Gov. Muhammad Badaru. (NAN)
