Court remands 7 men for allegedly stealing 300 bags of fertilizer worth N2m

Ikeja, March 20, 2020 (NAN) An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Friday ordered that seven men who allegedly stole 300 bags of golden urea fertilizer worth N2 million, be remanded in Ikoyi Custodial Centre, pending legal advice.

The police charged Sikiru Moshood, 41; Adebisi Titus, 42; Shina Ikujuni, 35; Kazeem Hassan 42; Lawal Afeez, 41;Jimoh Muritala, 33 and Yusuf Mustapha, 30 with two counts of conspiracy and armed robbery.

Chief Magistrate A.A. Fashola, who did not take the pleas of the suspects, ordered the police to return the case file to Lagos State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.

Fashola adjourned the case until May 8 for DPP advice.

Earlier, the Police Prosecutor, Sgt. Michael Unah, alleged that the suspects armed themselves with an iron rod cutter and broke into the company and stole 300 bags of golden urea fertilizer worth  N2 million.

Unah told the court that the suspects committed the offence with others still at large on Dec. 24, 2019 about 2.45 a. m. at No. 42 Jimoh Odutola St., Off Eric Moore, Bode Thomas Road, Surulere, Lagos.

The prosecutoralso ubmitted that they attacked the security guards attached to the company warehouse and robbed them of the valuables.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 297(1)(2)(a) and 411 of the Criminal laws of Lagos State 2015, (revised) (NAN)
