Court remands man, 33, over allegef armed robbery, murder

Sango-Ota (Ogun), March 17, 2020 (NAN) An Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun, on Tuesday, remanded a 33-year-old man, Abiodun Moses, in a custodial centre over alleged armed robbery and murder.
Moses, whose address was not provided, is facing a three-count charge of armed robbery, murder and conspiracy.
The prosecutor, Cpl. E. O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant and others, still at large, committed the offences on Jan. 24 at about 2.00 pm. at Otapo, Odo-Eran, Ota.
Adaraloye said the defendant and his accomplices conspired to rob one Babatunde Oladipupo by using dangerous weapons to dispossess him of N300,000 and other valuable items.
He added the defendant and his collaborators killed Oladipupo with knife which they used in stabbing on the chest in the process of robbing him.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene Sections 6(b), 319 and 324 of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, Cap. R 11, Laws of the Federation, 2004.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the plea of the defendant was not taken.
The Magistrate, Mrs A. O. Adeyemi, ordered that the defendant be remanded in a correctional centre pending the advice from the state Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
She, thereafter, adjourned the case till May 11 for DPP’s advice. (NAN)
