Zaria (Kaduna State), April 15, 2020 (NAN) The Joint Consultative Forum (JFC), Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), Zaria, has distributed face masks and sanitisers to people in the hospital to halt spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Mr Lawal Babsalam, the Chairman of the JCF, said this at an interactive session with journalists on Wednesday in Zaria.
Babsalam said that the JFC prioritised the safety of members, hence, its decision to distribute the items at wards, accident, emergency units and other departments in the facility.
According to him, the distribution was part of the group’s contribution to augment government efforts.
The chairman also disclosed that the forum has been able to subsidise transportation fare to members of staff to cushion the effect of COVID-19 lockdown in the area.
“The leadership of JCF find this important as the welfare of our members are sacrosanct in spite the prevailing challenges and circumstances”.
He, therefore, called on the state and federal governments to improve the welfare packages for health workers as they have demonstrated commitment to service of humanity.
Similarly, Dr Balqis Muhammad-Orogbo, the President, National Association of Resident Doctors, ABUTH Chapter, called for the provision of adequate protective kits at the facility. (NAN)
