COVID-19: CLO appeals to Nigerians to adhere to govt, expert advice

Enugu, March 21, 2020 (NAN) The Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO), an NGO, has appealed to Nigerians to adhere to government and expert advice on preventions of the coronavirus, also known as COVID-19.

The Chairman of CLO Anambra, Mr Vincent Ezekwueme, made the appeal while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Saturday.

Ezekwueme called on government at all levels to commence sensitization and education of citizenry on the scourge and how best to avoid contracting it.

According to him, the nationwide massive sensitization has become necessary as our recent experience shows that some misguided and ignorance citizenry doubt the existence of the deadly disease.

“CLO applauds proactive measures taken by the Federal and state governments to forestall escalation of coronavirus in the country.

“We commend the Federal Ministry of Health and National Centre For Disease Control for proactive measures they have taken so far especially their up to date briefing of Nigerians on the coronavirus,’’ he said.

Ezekwueme urged state and local governments to provide hand sanitisers and infra-red thermometers for its ministries and establishments as well as local motor parks and markets.

He however, called on church leaders, traditional rulers, civil society organizations, NGOs and market leaders to join government in the fight against this dreaded disease. (NAN)
