Sokoto, April 26, 2020 (NAN) The Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Kware in Sokoto State, has directed its workers and visitors to use face masks and sanitisers as part of measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr Shehu Sale, told newsmen on Sunday in Sokoto that the hospital had adopted the strategy to ensure the safety of visitors, patients on admission and workers.

Sale said the hospital’s COVID-19 committee had also directed all personnel to use Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) at all times.

According to him, all categories of workers are mandated to use face masks to cover their mouth and nose while visitors are also encouraged to do so.

“It is compulsory for all the frontline service providers in the hospital to use hand gloves and constantly use sanitisers while on duty.

“Hand washing instruments and soap are provided at strategic points in the hospital for every visitor and hospital community members to use,’’ Sale said.

He added that screening points had also been established to monitor visitors and ensure everyone adhered to the safety practices.

“Workers are enjoined to adhere to physical distancing and other government approved measures to guard against the spread of the disease.

“We have ensured two metres space in bed arrangements and physical distancing in the Out-Datient Department (OPD),’’ he saod

He advised hospital workers to avoid crowds, adding that physical meetings had been suspended in the facility.

The medical director said that the measures were in line with the directives of the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to contain the spread of coronavirus.

He commended the federal government’s efforts at containing the spread of the COVID-19, urging people to channel any complain of laxity on precautions in the hospital to a dedicated line – 07064759888.

Sale further said that the hospital had begun the production of hand sanitisers to protect the hospital community against the disease. (NAN)
