COVID-19: NGO assures VSF of effective delivery of relief package

Badagry (Lagos State), April 26, 2020 (NAN) An NGO, Real Acts of Kindness (RAK), on Sunday assured the Victims Support Fund (VSF) COVID-19 team of effective and transparent distribution of relief package to people in Lagos communities.
Mr Mobolaji Ogunlende, the Founder of RAK Foundation gave the assurance in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Badagry.
NAN reports that on April 23, the VSF, Nigeria’s private sector-led humanitarian initiative supporting Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) in the Northeast, donated relief items to 10 NGOs and Lagos State Food Bank to target about 50,000 households.
The items include 50kg bags, each containing 10kg rice, beans and garri, sachets of 2kg salt and 4 litres kegs of cooking oil.
NAN also reports that RAK, a leading NGO in Badagry, Lagos was selected by VSF COVID-19 Task Force as one of the 10 NGOs to implement Emergency Support Programme to local communities across Lagos State.
Ogunlende commended the task force for their timely intervention at a critical time, saying that people were hungry.

According to him, we know how to identify the real vulnerable ones, we will reach them and ensure the support will go a long way.
“For us at RAK Foundation, this is an opportunity to take charge and show the world that we are capable of doing it right.
“I want to assure the task force that we will ensure that the relief package gets to desired people in Lagos communities.
“We appreciate the trust they have in us because this is another rare privilege and opportunity for RAK Foundation to serve humanity more,” he said.
Ogunlende said that his NGO had donated hand sanitisers, liquid soaps and parcels of assorted food items to 3,000 households in Badagry to cushion the effects of COVID-19 lockdown in the area on April 9.
He said the palliative tagged: “Ounje Anu” was aimed at supporting the needy and helpless by giving them hope and sense of belonging.
The VSF Task Force on COVID-19 Chairperson, Mrs Toyosi Akerele-Ogunsiji, said the team had watched the Foundation and its activities at the grassroots with rapt attention and impressed by its level of commitment and performance.
NAN reports that the VSF was established on June 30, 2014 by the Federal Government and Retired Gen. Theophilus Danjuma was appointed as its Chairman.
VSF was created for the purpose of national response strategy to providing succour, rehabilitation, psychosocial support and economic empowerment for victims of insurgence and terrorism. (NAN)
