CP seeks Nasarawa stakeholders’ support to end kidnapping, other crimes

Akwanga (Nasarawa State), June 18, 2019 (NAN) The Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State, Mr Bola Longe, has called on stakeholders to support the police in order to tackle kidnapping and other criminal activities in the state.
Longe made the appeal on Tuesday during a familiarisation tour of Akwanga Police Division in Akwanga Local Government Area of the state.
He said that the tour was to interact with the police and other critical stakeholders in order to ensure peace in Akwanga and its environs.
The commissioner of police also called on the residents to ensure peaceful coexistence and tolerance among themselves; irrespective of their affiliations.
“When I assumed office as the CP, I mapped out strategies and constructed templates, in all the flashing points across the state.
“I am happy to tell you that we have arrested so many kidnappers, armed robbers in Nasarawa/Toto/Udege axis, among other areas, across the state,” he said.
Longe appealed to the stakeholders to support the police with vehicles for patrol in order to flush out criminal elements and ensure peace in the area and the state at large.
“I am appealing to you the stakeholders and other people to support the police in its efforts to flush out criminal elements across the state,” he urged.
Besides, he called on the people of the state to provide the police with useful information that that would help prevent crime and enhance peace and development.
Also speaking, former Sen. Philip Gyunka called for the deployment of more security details to rural areas in order to protect lives and property in the area.
Alhaji Husseini Akwanga, a former Minister of Labour and Productivity, also underscored security and peace as necessary requirements for the development of any society.
Akwanga urged the people to see themselves as brothers and sisters, stressing that no meaningful development will thrive in any society without peace.
Earlier, Mr Edmund Knight, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Akwanga Area Command, appreciated the Inspector-General of Police and the CP for their immense contribution in ensuring peace in the area and the state at large.
However, the DPO appealed to the CP to provide the command with more manpower and equipment for effective service delivery.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that officials of the Local Government Council, NURTW and Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) members were among those that attended the meeting.
Others stakeholders were representatives of farmers, herdsmen, traders and other security agencies. (NAN)
