Divorce: Pregnant woman prays court to order ex-husband to pay N15,000 monthly

Kaduna, March 10.2020(NAN) A pregnant woman, Hafsat Badamasi, on Tuesday prayed a Shari’a court sitting in Rigasa, Kaduna to order her former husband, Sani Yahaya, to pay her  N15,000 monthly for the ”upkeep” of her pregnancy.

Badamasi, who resides in Rigasa area, told the court that Yahya made one pronouncement of divorce to her while she was pregnant.

“I also want this honourable court to compel my ex husband to get me an apartment where I can stay and deliver”, she said.

On his part, Yahaya, who did not deny that he divorced his, said he could only afford N5,000 monthly.

The judge Malam Dahiru Bamalli after listening to both parties ordered the defendant to pay N5,000 monthly allowance to his former wife.

Bamalli also advised the complainant to stay with her parents and adjourned the matter until  March 23.(NAN)
