Driver in court for allegedly absconding with employer’s N244,500

Lagos, June 21, 2018 (NAN) A 37-year-old driver, Ifeoluwa Badmus, who allegedly stole his employer’s N244,500, was on Thursday charged before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.

The defendant, who resides at Ogun State, is being tried for stealing and causing breach of peace.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Innocent Odugbo told the court that the offence was committed on June 8 at 6, Akinwale St., Ogba in Lagos.

Odugbo said that the defendant was to supply some bags of sachet water to different customers and to collect the money immediately.

“The defendant was to pay the proceeds of the sales which amounted to N244, 500, to the company’s account but he absconded.

He said the complainant, Mr Ogu Nnemeka, who owns Kings Waters, reported the case to the police station.

The prosecutor said that following a tip off, the defendant was arrested.

The offence contravened Sections 287 and 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to stealing and guilty to causing the breach of the peace.

The Magistrate, Mrs S. K Matepo granted the defendant to a bail of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum for pleading not guilty to stealing.

Matepo, adjourned the case until June 29 for sentencing for pleading guilty to causing the breach of peace. (NAN)
