Easter celebration: FRSC to deploy 400 personnel in Edo

Benin, April 17, 2019 (NAN) The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Edo Sector Command, says it will deploy 400 personnel to ensure safety of people and property before, during and after the Easter celebrations.
The State Sector Commander, Mr Anthony Oko, made the disclosure in Benin on Wednesday in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Oko emphasised that its officials would be on major roads to ensure that motorists obey traffic rules and regulations to minimise accidents.
He disclosed that the command would embark on public awareness campaigns on the need to be safety conscious while plying the roads.
He stressed that road traffic crashes had claimed many lives including children, men and women, a situation that had adversely affected the society and the economy.
He said mobile courts would be available to try defaulters while the command would ensure strict enforcement of road safety rules.
The sector commander further said that special focus would be on seat belt violation, speed limiting device violation, speeding and overloading. (NAN)
