Ilorin, April 12, 2020 (NAN) Some Clerics in Ilorin, Kwara, on Sunday admonished Christians on repentance and soberness even as they celebrate Easter at home in compliance with government lockdown.

The clerics, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in separate interviews, urged Christians to be faithful and allow the significance of the season show in their lives.

Pastor Dare David of Reformation Pentecostal Church in Ilorin said that the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is a fulfilment of His mission on earth.

“We thank God that despite the pandemic being faced in the world today, it is still a happy Easter for us as Christians.

“The death and resurrection of Christ is a fulfilment of His mission on earth and I pray that we as Christians will fulfil our missions on earth.

“We should give our lives to Christ and live in accordance with His will, a time to reflect and be sober, not just celebrating alone, so that we can understand why He was sent to die for us.

“In a time like this, especially when the world is facing a singular challenge, the COVID-19, and everywhere is on lockdown, it should be seen as a privilege to think deep and look at what God has done for us in Nigeria.

“Forget about what government has done or not, whether they give cash or palliatives, let us do a family revival and retreat and call ourselves to order.

“We should look at those areas where we have not done well and avoid nailing Christ to the cross a second time,” he said.

Evangelist Olugbenga Adeojo of Christ Apostolic Church, Chapel of Mercy, wished Christians a happy Easter, adding that the resurrection of Christ is a pointer that his second coming is near.

“My question to Christians today is that do you know Christ as your master? Are you ready for the judgment day?

“I beseech you in the name of God to seek God and His salvation and to also pray for Nigeria and other nations of the earth,” the cleric admonished.

Also, Pastor Olusegun Aiyedogbon of Christ Foundation Bible Church, tasked Christians on good character,  saying Easter celebration should be a time for sober reflection.

”We must give our lives to Christ and live in accordance to his will, this is a time to reflect and be sober, not just celebration alone, so that we can understand why he was sent to die for us,” he said.

On his part, Pastor Tunji Olagoke of World Overcomers Missionary Church, advised Christians to key into the power of the resurrection of Christ and speak peace into the world in accordance with the word of God.

“I want to encourage us all to obey all that has been said in the scripture, seek the face of God and obey the government to stay at home and stay safe.

“Because after all this is over, we shall all gather in our various places of worship and praise God,” he said. (NAN)
