Ebonyi launches 2019 — 2023 human capital development road-map

Abakaliki, Aug. 14, 2019 (NAN) The Ebonyi government has launched its roadmap for human capital development to cover its second tenure of 2019—2023.
Commissioner for Human Capital Development and Monitoring Uchenna Orji stated this on Wednesday in Abakaliki, during activities to mark his his assumption of duties after being re-appointed for the position.
Orji described human capital development as a catalyst for economic development and driver of economic growth, which would be aggressively tackled in the next four years.
“We shall aggressively embark on human development through entrepreneurship and industrialisation in collaboration with the private sector for them to empower people.
“We shall closely move with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Bank of Industry (BOI), Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL), World Bank, Development Partners, commercial banks, among others,” he said.
The commissioner said that the government would embark on aggressive documentation and data capturing of artisans, technicians, craftsmen, poultry, fish farmers and those involved in entrepreneurship and Micro, Small and Medium Skills Enterprises (MSMEs).
“We shall drive the 2019 budget with passion and develop strategies and implementation plans for the empowerment of 100 youths and women with also not less than N1 million each to the MSMEs.
“The government intends to empower five fish farmers and five poultry farmers per political ward and a consultant shall be engaged to assist us in this regard.
“We shall further drive the Ebonyi State Development Project (EB—SDP) to ensure that no fewer than 10 people per ward are empowered through this project,” he said.
He said that the ministry would continue with the programmes embarked on during the last tenure and develop its hall of fame programme to make it an African model.
“I thank the ministry’s staff members for their cooperation and resourcefulness. I urge them to redouble their efforts to make this second sojourn a remarkable success,” he said.
On his part, Mr Enyinnaya Egwu, Permanent Secretary Designate of the ministry, congratulated the commissioner for his re-appointment to oversee the ministry and pledged the loyalty of its management and staff.
“Your resourcefulness and dedication to duty made the governor announce your re-appointment even before the dissolution of the former state Executive Council,” he said.
Mr Stephen Icho, Acting General Manager of the Community and Social Development Agency (CSDP) pledged the cooperation of the agency to ensure that the commissioner achieved his goals for the ministry.
