Yankara, (Zamfara) April 24, 2020 (NAN) The Zamfara Government has directed security agencies to quarantine traders entering the state from Kano State.

The state Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Usman Nagogo, made the disclosure to newsmen on Friday in Yankara, the border town with Katsina State.

Nagogo said that exercise was an additional measure to curtain the spread of coronavirus pandemic in the state.

He noted that it in a bid to strengthen measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus, the Governors Forum resolved to lockdown all the borders of 36 states.

“You know, there is a little window given by Kano State government and most of the traders  from the state went to buy materials.

“Even yesterday in the night we returned over 20 vehicles conveying the traders to this particular border who were intercepted by our men inside the bush.

“The apprehended traders will be quarantined. Government is making arrangements to fumigate the vehicles and quarantine the traders before they would be allowed to enter the state.

“This is the main border leading to most of the states in the North West. Therefore it has to be properly guarded and that was why l came out to see what is happening here.

“As we all know, the instructions given by government is that only vehicles carrying food items, petrol and medicine would be allowed to enter the state.

“We will continue to enforce the law to ensure that lives are protected. We increased the number of security agencies at all border posts in the state,” the commissioner of police said.

He commended the security personnel working at the borders and urged them to ensure synergy and transparency for government to succeed in the exercise. (NAN)
