Benin, March 5, 2020 (NAN) The Edo State Government has resumed construction work at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp permanent site in Okada.

Gov. Godwin Obaseki of Edo made this known while addressing the 2019 Batch ‘A’ of Corps members passing out parade on Thursday in Benin City, Edo.

“We are determined more than ever to complete all construction works at the camp site as soon as it is practicable for camp to be occupied before the 2020 Batch ‘B’ orientation in the state.

“We are well aware that the governorship election will soon hold in Edo and for those of you and other serving corps members participating as advocate staff in the election, I encourage you to participate.

“Let the unity and peace of Edo state, the fair play as well as discipline, neutrality and selfless service to the father land be your watchword,” he said.

Obaseki, who was represented by the Dep. Gov. of Edo, Mr Philip Shaibu, charged the Corps members to be good ambassadors of the scheme.

He said that they should contribute to its history by striving to build a virile nation that “is genuinely united and economically viable’’.

Mr Damian Lawani, the Commissioner for Youths and Special Duties, advised the Corps members to be prepared to face numerous challenges confronting the nation.

“As you leave NYSC, I urge you to remain good ambassadors of the scheme by upholding its ideas.

“You urged them to explore the opportunities provided by the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), the skills acquired during the Skill Acquisitions and Entrepreneurship Development Training programme (SAED),” he said.

He commended the governor of Edo for his fatherly support to the scheme and to all corps members for making the service year memorable.

Mr Ojo Adebayo, the NYSC Coordinator of Edo, appreciated the state government for his unflinching support and assistance to the NYSC scheme.

He advised the corps members to maintain a high sense of discipline, loyalty and maturity as they mingle with other people in the nation. (NAN)
