EU foreign policy chief tells Turkey border developments unacceptable

Ankara, March 4, 2020 (Reuters/NAN) European Union Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell on Wednesday said he told Turkey that the situation at the border with Greece was unacceptable.

“Turkey should not encourage further movement of migrants toward the border with EU states,’’ Borrell adds.

President Tayyip Erdogan, speaking after talks in Ankara, described their meeting as long and profitable.

Over 10,000 migrants have been trying to breach the border since Turkey has said it would no longer abide by a 2016 deal with the EU to halt illegal migration flows to Europe in return for billions of Euros in aid. (Reuters/NAN)
