Bwari (Abuja), May 31, 2019 (NAN) Some pupils of the Local Education Authority (LEA) primary schools in Bwari Area Council of the FCT have tasked government on provision of more free school materials and infrastructure.

The pupils made the call in separate interviews with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja.

One of them, Amos Bala urged government to provide free textbooks and classrooms furniture.

“We want free books, especially textbooks because most of us, our parents cannot afford them. We also need chairs, desks and chalks for our teachers to teach us with,” he said.

Another pupil, Susan Udoh said that there was need for the council to provide quality library structure in schools, especially those situated at the rural areas.

“These facilities should not be too far away from us, as we are also in need of information provided through the libraries. It is my wish that we have the privilege to own a well-equipped library in this council that all pupils can use.

“It will go a long way to improve our learning and also increase the quality of education we receive here,” she said.

Similarly, Buba Samaila, called on the council to provide more infrastructure to schools at the grassroots.

According to him, a lot of children want to come to school but lack the motivation by both parents and the few government opportunities does not reach them.

Mr Solomon Ayuba, the Executive Secretary of the Bwari LEA, said that the council was working to improve the sector and make more impact on the lives of children.

According to him, the council is making plans for the provision of infrastructure in schools in the area, adding that the council will continue to encourage the pupils for their academic excellence. (NAN)
