Fed. Min. of Works and Housing donates health facility to Adamawa community

Yola, March 9, 2020 (NAN) The Federal Ministry of Works and Housing says it has built and donated a four- bed  space clinic to Jambutu community in Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa.

Mr Aminu Sambo, Federal Controller, Housing Sector, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Yola.

Sambo said the gesture was part of the ministry’s special project unit aimed at complementing inter – ministry efforts  toward provision of health facility to enhance healthcare service delivery at the grassroots.

Commenting on the Federal Housing projects, Sambo said the ministry had completed work on the first phase of 80 housing units in the state.

Sambo said the construction of the second phase of housing project was equally awarded and work would soon commence.

He said: “The ministry has constructed a four – bed space health clinic donated to Jambutu community in Yola South LGA.

“Also, the  first phase of 80 housing units which began in 2017 is almost completed, what remains now is construction of drains, water and electricity supply facilities.

“The houses would be sold to interested Nigerians and the maintenance will be the responsibility of the owner”.

Sambo announced plans by the ministry to expand the third phase of the housing projects to other local government areas of the state.

He explained that the core objectives of the housing scheme was to enable Nigerians own houses at affordable prices to solve the protracted shelter problem.

The controller added that the ministry also executed community development projects under its Special Projects Unit in rural communities to improve social and economic well-being of the people.

Sambo listed the projects to include construction of boreholes in Madagali, Michika and Mubi LGAs as well as installation of about 500 solar powered street lights in many parts of the state.

“Solar powered street lights are provided at Federal Secretariat Complex,  Modibbo Adama University of Technology (MAUTECH), and Federal Medical Centre, all in Yola.

“Numan town and Fadaman Rake village in Numan and Hong LGAs each benefited with over 100 solar powered street lights.

“The ministry also constructed some classrooms in Mubi and Yola North LGAs,” he added. (NAN)
