Fire service in Enugu counsel residents on fire Outbreak

   Enugu, Jan. 12, 2017 (NAN) The Enugu State Fire Service has advised residents to shun activities capable of causing to fire outbreak.

The state Chief Fire Officer, Mr Okwudili Oha, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Thursday.

Oha noted that eight cases of fire incidents were reported during the yuletide season and were put out immediately.

The fire officer, who said that inferno affected a building and bushes, said their timely intervention from a distressed call saved lives and property.

He appealed to the residents and those in the hinterlands to shun bush burning because it could lead to disaster to buildings, farmlands and  even lives.

Oha also advised residents, especially those with a lot of electrical appliances, to always switch off the appliances when not in use.

“We can secure our homes, offices and business premises better when we form the habit of always switching off electrical appliances when not in use  or at the end of the day’s business,’’ he said.

He, however, assured the residents of the state of the fire service readiness to respond to all emergency calls no matter the time of the day. (NAN)
