Insecurity: Kaduna youth group demands more action from govt

Kafanchan (Kaduna) March 17, 2020 (NAN) Kaura Youth Coalition has demanded for more action from the Kaduna State Government to end incessant killings in their community.

The group, in a press statement on Tuesday, said the attacks of March 11 in Zangang community, Kaura Local Government Area, which left two people dead and several injured, was regrettable.

The statement, which was signed by the President of the coalition, Derek Christopher, was made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Tuesday in Kafanchan.

It urged the state government to create additional police outposts and increase military presence in the community and the entire southern Kaduna.

“During the recent attack in Zangang Community only five security personnel were stationed there, and that is grossly inadequate for a community of its size.

“We are calling for more reinforcement to the community to be able to deal with the growing insecurity in the area.

“The education of thousands of our pupils have been put on hold because of this security challenge we are facing, while others have been rendered homeless,” it added.

It challenged elected representatives from the area to do more by taking the lead in efforts to save the people from the snares of the enemy.

The statement noted that people of the area would be left with no option but to defend themselves if government failed to guarantee their safety and security.

“Government at all levels must wake up to its primary responsibility of protecting lives and property.

“If that cannot be guaranteed we will have no choice but to face the evil that stands between us and our destinies,” it said

In the statement the youths condoled with the families of the deceased persons and called for more vigilance.
