ITF staff school emerges best in spelling bee, literature, painting competitions.

Jos, July 27, 2019(NAN) The Industrial Training Fund (ITF) Staff School, Jos, has emerged best in spelling bee , literature and painting competitions in Plateau, Mrs Ekong Ndidiamaka, principal of the school, has said.

Ndidiamaka disclosed this at the 18th graduation speech and prize giving day of the school on Saturday in Jos.

She said the school had excelled in various competitions in the state because of the committement of the staff to duty and the resilience of the children to learning.

“We emerged first position at a spelling bee competition organised for primary schools by Rotary Club, Jos Central, and also emerged third at a cooking competition organised to commemorate children’s Day celebration,” she said.

The principal also said that students of the school were outstanding at various examinations organised by the West Africa Examinations Council (WAEC) and the Basic Education Certificate Examination(BECE) organised by the National Examinations Council (NECO).

“At the just concluded external examinations by WAEC, 11 students scored beyond six distinctions, while seven scored distinctions.

“The school recorded over 80 per cent pass of six credits and beyond in various subjects including English language and Mathematics, ” she said

She appealed to the management of the fund to provide a Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Computer Based Test (CBT) centre and upgrade its library and football field to modern ones.

In his remarks, Mr Joseph Ari, the Director General of ITF, urged the graduating students to explore ways of making their immediate communities better.

Ari, who was represented by Mr Tajudeen Ishola, the Director of Administration and Human Resources, expressed the commitment of the fund to prioritise welfare of teachers and upgrade facilities in the school.

“We have prioritised the continuous training of teachers, procured laboratory equipment in addition to the ongoing construction of a classroom block,” he said.

Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the best graduating student, Master Ahmed Abdulasheed, thanked the teachers for inculcating knowledge in them and wished his colleagues success in their future endeavours.
