JAAN, JICA commit to implement projects, enhance development in Nigeria

Abuja, March 13, 2020 (NAN) The Japan Alumni Association of Nigeria (JAAN) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) say they are committed to ensuring that Japanese projects are effectively implemented across the country.

Mr Ahmed Agberankhe, the President of JAAN said this in the 2020 Annual Bulletin of the association issued by Mr Kingsley Ozuruoke, JICA`s Programme Officer on Friday in Abuja.

He said that JICA and JAAN were also ready to partner with relevant organisations to enhance development in the country.

Agberankhe said that the association in collaboration with JICA would ensure that Japanese projects and various activities would be implemented effectively.

He said that the membership of the association was any person who had satisfactorily completed a course of training in Japan.

He said that the association had formed committees in various fields to enable execute projects and programmes effectively.

Agberankhe said that the association had committees on agriculture, health, environment and sanitation sectors.

He said that the association was planning to create committee in education sector, adding that the association would continue to improve activities that would promote the lives of the people.

According to him, JAAN will continue to improve Nigeria and Japan relationship.

”The association will not hesitate whatsoever way to partner with individuals and organisations with a view to realising the goals of the association.

“As we strive to uphold the objectives of the association and contribute in national building to bear on our programmes and activities with various experience from Japan, it is our hope that posterity will remember us positively.

Agberankhe said that the association currently had more than 2000 Nigerians who had been trained in Japan under the Japanese technical assistance to Nigeria in various fields.

He said that the JAAN was a non-profit association whose objectives were to promote cultural and economic ties between Nigeria and Japan.

The association president said that JAAN was aimed at helping the needy in the society and assisting in building a virile and strong Nigerian economy by applying the knowledge its members gained from Japan.

He said that JICA and JAAN had developed collaborative efforts aimed at maintaining data bases of Nigerian professionals trained in Japan through the technical cooperation between the two countries.

He, however, said that JICA and JAAN would continue to articulating ideas that could help to implement programmes and projects that would create sustainable awareness to impact directly in the lives of people. (NAN)
