Kaduna, 13 Feb, 2017 (NAN) The Jema’a Foundation, a development organisation in Southern Kaduna, on Monday condemned the destruction of the foundation structure for Kafanchan military barrack, saying it was the handwork of enemies of peace.

Malam Mohammed Kassim, Chairman of the foundation, said in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna that the perpetrators must be fished out and brought to justice.

Kassim said the action, showed clearly that there were some elements in the area benefitting from the crisis and therefore determined to thwart government efforts to ensure lasting peace.

“Every one in the area, irrespective of tribal or religious affiliation, agree that setting up military and mobile police bases would strengthen efforts at containing the recurring crisis in southern Kaduna, it is unfortunate some bad eggs don’t want peace to reign in the area.

“That is why we call on government  to investigate and bring the culprits to book. ”

According to him, Jema’a and Zazzau Emirates had since the early 70s donated land for the establishment of military barrack in Kafanchan which was not done.

“We are 100 percent in support of the establishment of military and  mobile police bases in the area for peace to reign, we stand on this position, we are a peace loving people and we will not change from that.,” Kassim said.

NAN reports that Gov. Nasiru El-Rufa’i and Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai had on Feb.4, laid the foundation stone for the military barrack, expected to be completed within three months.(NAN)
