Katsina State:  Zango LGC launches sales, distribution of 8,722 bags of fertilizer

Zango (Katsina State),  June 26, 2019 (NAN) The Zango Local Government Council says it has taken delivery of  8,722 bags of fertilizer  from the State Government for rainy season farming in the area.

Alhaji Hassan Kawari, the Council’s Chairman made this known when he officially launched the sales and distribution of the commodity in Zango Council on Wednesday.

He said the price of a bag of fertilizer was pegged at N5, 000 irrespective of the type, either NPK or Urea.

He also explained that the council would closely monitor the entire process as bulk purchase had to be verified to avoid diversion.

Kawari added that the commodity would be distributed in the ratio of 89 bags per polling unit and it was expected to cover the 98 polling units across the 10 wards in the area.

In a related development, the chairman said the council had in the last three months constructed 10 km of feeder road linking kawarin kudi district and the neighbouring communities.

He added that a construction of 6.5 km of water ways in Zango town to avoid unnecessary flooding was also carried out.

Kawari said it was his administration’s desire to promote community policing and secure the area against crimes.

He said the council had procured working tools that included uniform, patrol shoes, torchlight, and walking stick to members of the vigilante group in the area.

He noted that each of the 10 existing wards had recruited 20 men into the vigilante group, stressing we would soon work out a feasible token allowance for them to serve as motivational factor.

According to him, his administration has been running an open door policy as nothing is shrouded in secrecy, all the council members are carried along in the day to day administration of the council. (NAN)
