Kaura LG picks 51 medals to win 6th Kaduna State Sports Festival

Kaduna, March 7, 2020 (NAN) Kaura Local Government  garnered 51 medals to emerge the overall champions of the 6th Kaduna State Sports Festival, which ended in Kaduna on Saturday.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that athletes from Kaura had 19 gold, 15 Silver and 17 bronze to come first on the medals table.

It was followed by Chikun local government which secured 28 medals comprising 13 gold, 7 silver and 8 bronze, while

Kachia local government placed third with a total of 25 medals, 7 Gold, 6 Silver and 12 bronze.

Jaba local government picked the fourth position with 6 Gold, 4 Silver and 3 bronze in the competion which had athletes from the 23 local government areas as participants.

At the bottom of the log were Birnin Gwari and Igabi local government areas with a Silver medal each while Ikara and Sanga local government areas failed to pick any medal.

In the football finals that climaxed the festival, Zaria local government team overpowered their Giwa counterpart with a lone goal to pick the gold medal while Kagarko local government picked the third spot in football.

Trophies were presented to Kaura, Chikun and Kachia local government areas who came 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively, by the state Chief Judge, Justice Muhammadu Lawal-Bello and Commissioner of Sports Development, Prof. Kabir Mato.(NAN)
